BackWPup: patch for the ‘Unknown cipher error’

This was one of my top plugins for WordPress, and I use to use it on every site to back up my database and files at least once a week to a dropbox folder ( I now use UpdraftPlus). After a recent upgrade I started receiving an error message and the backups failed:

ERROR: Dropbox API: (59) Unknown cipher in list (followed by a list of errors)

The patch for this can be found on the support site forum.  I hope there will be a fix  in the next upgrade. Create the following PHP page and add it into your wordpress plugins folder. Copy it to a text editor and save it to your desktop and use Filezilla or another ftp file manager to move the file from your desktop to the WordPress/wp-content/plugins folder. You will then need to go to your WordPress dashboard to activate it as a plugin.

 * Plugin Name: BackWPup disable SSL connection verifying
 * Plugin URI:
 * Description: Disables the verifying from SSL connections in backup destinations
 * Author: Inpsyde GmbH
 * Author URI:
 * Version: 0.1
 * Network: true
 * License: GPLv3
 * License URI:

add_filter( 'backwpup_cacert_bundle', '__return_false' );

This eliminates the need to verify an SSL connection and the files will upload without the unknown cipher error.
